‘INVASION’ returns to Aretha Brown’s recurring alien motif, using animals caught beneath an extraterrestrial beam to represent the violence of colonisation. The work also considers the difficulty Mob living in Melbourne can face accessing kangaroo meat. Despite being healthy, sustainable and culturally significant, colonisation has taught many people to dismiss it as a lesser meat, or simply as dog food.
