Artwork Description šŸ’
Created in response to renewed calls for a so-called "monoculture" in Australia, Monoculture challenges the myth that this continent was ever one people or one culture. For more than 65,000 years, the lands now known as Australia have been home to hundreds of Sovereign First Nations, each with distinct languages, laws and cultural traditions.

Through bold graphic imagery and satire, Brown reminds viewers that diversity is not a recent arrival but the foundation of this continent. The only attempt at imposing a monoculture arrived through British colonisation. Monoculture is both a celebration of Indigenous sovereignty and a rejection of the colonial narratives that continue to shape Australian identity.
