Artwork Description šŸ’

Developed during Aretha Brown's collaboration with Irish hip hop group Kneecap, Pink Bally reimagines the balaclava as a symbol of resistance rather than fear. Drawing on the visual language of activist movements such as the Guerrilla Girls and Pussy Riot, the work explores how an object associated with anonymity, protest and rebellion is transformed through colour.

Here, pink becomes a political gesture. The balaclava shifts from a symbol of concealment to one of solidarity, collective action and defiance, challenging viewers to reconsider the meanings attached to resistance and visibility.
